The Platinum Adventures Club is a unique travel and activities group for our customers age 50 or better.  Join our club for great opportunities to meet new people, make new friends and enjoy activities such as:

Joining the club is free and simple.  If you are at least 50 years of age and have $5,000.00 in deposits and an active checking account at our bank, you are eligible!  The only expense you incur is the cost of the events and trips you attend.

Family Solutions for Successful Aging

Saturday, June 5th | 9:00am - 12:00pm

Aging is something that we all will inevitably face. This event is designed to solve some of the problems we and our families encounter along the way. We will have three discussion groups led by experts in each field. Group 1 will discuss the available resources that can assist the various stages of aging. Group 2 will be led by financial experts who will advise on Trusts, Roth IRA’s, Long term Care Insurance, Reverse Mortgages and much more. Group 3 will be led by an elder care lawyer and a representative from Family Services who will discuss various conversations families need to have. There will also be a room full of booths where experts can answer questions about your specific needs. This is an event and information you can’t miss!

Old Time Radio

Do you remember the sounds of objects falling in Fibber McGee and Molly’s closet, the voice of “The Shadow,” or the Ovaltine commercials for “Little Orphan Annie”? If you enjoyed those days of “old time radio,” you’ll love this seminar! Larry Bergnach, entertainer & humorous speaker will recall those golden days when radio was king! Larry will demonstrate some radio sound effects and will display memorabilia of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. There will also be loads of audience participation with dancing and singing to the music of the big name dance bands of that era.

Driehaus Mansion - The Marble Palace

Thursday, June 10th

This mansion was built by distillery and banking magnate Samuel Mayo Nickerson between 1879 and 1883. Bought in 2003 by Richard Driehaus, a Chicago philanthropist and preservationist, he has just completed a five year restoration. The carved woodwork and stone, shimmering mosaics and jewel-toned stained glass, plus two dozen pieces of original furniture that now adjoin Driehaus’ own collection of late 19th century paintings, sculpture, furniture, silver and Tiffany lighting are a must see! Only 12 people are permitted to tour the mansion at a time, so we will divide into two groups. When not touring, you will enjoy shopping on Michigan Avenue. We will be lunching at Lawry’s Prime Rib restaurant.

Nuclear Power, Wind Farm, and the Railroad

Wednesday, June 16th

With the steep cost increases of petroleum based products, we need to focus our energy needs on alternative methods. Here is your chance to see three of these alternatives, all in North Central Illinois. Our first visit is to the Byron-Excelon Nuclear Power Plant, where we will tour the training center and simulator and hear first hand about the positive and negative aspects of using nuclear power as energy. Next, we will head south to the Mendota Wind Farm, where we will stand at the base of a massive windmill and learn about using wind as an energy source. We will end with lunch and a visit to the railroad yard in Rochelle

Mississippi River Cruise

June 23 - 25, 2010

Experience the magic of the Mississippi on a 100 mile river cruise aboard the Celebration Belle. We will begin our 3-day journey in Galena with lunch at Fried Green Tomatoes. We will move on to historic Dubuque for a guided tour and a gourmet progressive dinner in beautiful Victorian homes. Then, we will cruise from Dubuque to Bettendorf while enjoying a full breakfast, lunch and prime rib dinner, live entertainment and activities. We will travel through three locks and dams and view majestic bluffs before arriving in Bettendorf for the evening to enjoy the amenities at the Stoney Creek Inn. That night, you can take hotel shuttles to nearby casinos or stroll the riverfront boardwalk. On the third day, we will take a guided tour through Bishop Hill colony to experience the rich history of this “prairie utopia” established by industrious Swedish immigrants. A Swedish lunch will be served at the Red Oak, Bishop Hill.
